Street Player

All of you
music geeks know how cool it is to sample a old tune into a new and awesome track.  And of curse you also know that not all samples are recognized. Tunes you never knew was sampled until you see it. Take Daft Punk for example. They do insane sampling. Some VERY noticeable and others quite abstract. Old Disco and Funk major tracks chopped up and sequenced into french electro! PS! If anybody can explain the "Around The World" sample, be kind and DO IT! That shit is just art!

Ok ...

So i find myself sitting in my room playing old records. More specific  The Bucketheads - The Bomb! (These Sounds Fall Into My Head) Also known as Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez and Jhonny "D" De Mario. A great record by the way. Anyway. My dad, Who is a Old Chicago fan, dropped by. After a few bars he sead;  "Hmmmmm. Thats sampled from a Old Old Chicago record, issn`t it?" I fired up and we went true some of his gigantic Record Collection and found one of now "top ten" records. Chicago - Street Player 12" . . . .  By the way, the record is awfully expensive. About 40  euros on discogs....

So the moral is.....  Have your dad visit once and while,  he probably know allot more than you know! (And look true your dads old records before spending all your money)

Peace

paaL

paaL plays Justice Live @ holmenkollen, Norway

This is
paaLs tribte to Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay also known as Justice. Justice first produced tracks together for Musclorvision's Hits Up To You, a concept compilation where tracks were meant to sound like they were meant for the Eurovision song contest. The compilation included two of their songs, and a track by Gaspard's alter-ego Microloisir. Justice first came to prominence through their 2003 remix of Simian's track "Never Be Alone," created for a Paris college radio station's remix contest. The remix resulted in the group being signed to Ed Banger (who released it) and became a hit in clubs and on the internet. The song was re-released in 2004 on DJ Hell's International DeeJay Gigolo Records and eventually given a commercial release in the UK in the summer of 2006, under the title "We Are Your Friends," on Ten Records, a sub-label of Virgin Records

moog

Moog synthesizers were
custom assembled for each order. There were two types of case, a nice looking wooden console, and a portable box covered in black crinkly paper. There were some standard setups, but most studios chose their modules a la carte. Prices in 1969 ranged from $125 for an envelope generator through 395 for an oscillator to 1,225 for a sequencer. (At that time a hamburger cost fifteen cents.) The order form included a map so you could specify where you wanted your modules, but they could easily be moved around. Almost all of us bought only a few modules at a time, and many systems still have empty space.
